PM assures increased funds for FATA uplift
ISLAMABAD: The government accords high priority to the development of FATA and will ensure increased funds to provide better health and education facilities there, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Monday. Talking to a delegation of parliamentarians from FATA, led by Munir Khan Orakzai, who called on him at his Parliament House chamber, Gilani said State Minister for Finance Hina Rabbani Khar had already been directed to oversee the implementation of developmental work in FATA. He said the government had already released Rs 2.5 billion for the displaced persons of South Waziristan and the Special Support Group had been directed to look after the people, as no war could be won without winning the hearts of the people. The PM said he had asked the NWFP government to formulate a comprehensive strategy suggesting measures for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the displaced persons. staff report
